Choosing the right canvas starts with the wall, the furniture below it, and how the artwork will be viewed. Use this guide as a starting point, then measure your space before ordering.

Canvas size reference

All dimensions are width × height. Centimetres are rounded conversions of the listed inch dimensions. Sizes vary by artwork and destination; the product page and checkout show what is available for your order.

Horizontal canvases

18 × 12 in (45.7 × 30.5 cm), 24 × 16 in (61 × 40.6 cm), 30 × 20 in (76.2 × 50.8 cm), and 36 × 24 in (91.4 × 61 cm). These landscape proportions work well above a sofa, bed, console, or along a wide wall.

Portrait canvases

12 × 18 in (30.5 × 45.7 cm), 16 × 24 in (40.6 × 61 cm), 20 × 30 in (50.8 × 76.2 cm), and 24 × 36 in (61 × 91.4 cm). These vertical proportions suit narrow walls, entryways, reading corners, and spaces between windows.

Square canvases

12 × 12 in (30.5 × 30.5 cm), 16 × 16 in (40.6 × 40.6 cm), 20 × 20 in (50.8 × 50.8 cm), and 24 × 24 in (61 × 61 cm). Square art is easy to place above a small cabinet, in a gallery wall, or as a balanced focal point.

Panorama canvases

36 × 12 in (91.4 × 30.5 cm), 48 × 16 in (121.9 × 40.6 cm), and 60 × 20 in (152.4 × 50.8 cm). These extra-wide formats suit long walls and furniture groupings. Not every panorama artwork offers every size; check the artwork page and destination eligibility before ordering.

Choosing the scale

  • Small: 12-inch sizes and 18 × 12 suit shelves, compact walls, and grouped displays.
  • Medium: 16-inch sizes and 24 × 16 create a noticeable accent without dominating the room.
  • Large: 20-inch sizes and 30 × 20 work well as a single focal point.
  • Statement: 24-inch sizes and 36 × 24 are designed for larger walls and furniture groupings.

Simple measuring tips

  • For artwork above furniture, aim for a canvas width around two-thirds to three-quarters of the furniture width.
  • Leave approximately 6–10 inches (15–25 cm) between the top of the furniture and the bottom of the canvas.
  • A common starting point is to place the centre of the artwork about 57–60 inches (145–152 cm) from the floor.
  • Use painter’s tape to outline the canvas dimensions on your wall before ordering.
